Kids suffer from lack of safe facilities

I think the lack of soccer fields for the Silver Lake Soccer Club is an issue. There are not enough fields for kids to play soccer. School district fields are being used for school sports and activities. School dirt fields are being converted to grass which will make things worse because grass fields will not have proper maintenance and will end up being dangerous. Grass fields get more wear and tear in the rain, making them unusable. There are also very few field-space alternatives with county and city parks.

This issue is important to me because I have played for Silver Lake Soccer Club for eight years and have had to suffer from lack of decent, safe fields. Not only have I suffered, but my sibling and approximately 1,700 other soccer club players each year have suffered, too. The community has allowed the development of neighborhoods in the area, bringing even more soccer players with them and making the lack of fields even greater.

Now kids don’t have enough safe fields to play on. Kids are being neglected because the community isn’t stepping up to help provide service to them. As a community, you should feel as if you have failed the youth by not changing this problem. It is time to step up and fix this issue and make our community better for our youth.
