Legislatures in many liberally run states are choosing to adopt strict new gun laws. Sadly, those laws will do nothing at all to address the primary issue they are targeted at preventing. You can have all the background checks, magazine limits and appearance laws you want and it will not prevent school shootings. It will make honest gun owners become illegal and make the millions of them across the nation more inclined to vote in the next election.
In the meantime, you will continue to see hypocrisy in our leaders who push for such laws, then we find out they own and use the very guns that are illegal — with immunity and without exposition by our media. We will continue to see “gun free” zones where criminals are practically guaranteed no resistance. Meanwhile, our economy is in shambles. North Korea and Iran are on the verge of causing a nuclear catastrophe. Maybe we should outlaw them from having more than one nuke? Perhaps nuke free zones will help? Let’s just pass some bills to see what’s in them, regardless of how useless and ineffective they may be. I just don’t know what it will take to figure out that criminals who don’t follow laws are not more likely to follow the new ones. The nutcase with a knife in Texas just used a different weapon. Perhaps banning assault style, double-edged, leather handled knives would have helped? I am putting a sheath lock on mine. While they are at it, banning bombs at marathons could be a good idea too. It’s time to come to grips with the nature of humanity maybe.
