Let’s rise above insinuations

I have to object to the Jan. 11 Froma Harrop column, “Crazy shooter, yes, but still a political attack”: Her suggestion that the crazy gunman involved in the shooting deaths in Tucson and the assassination attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was influenced by a “gun-waving right wing that Boehner’s party tolerates and feeds with self-pitying visions of oppression.”

Extremely offensive! I am a member of the more conservative ranks of Americans who, like House Speaker Boehner, are appalled by the rampage of a lone, crazed gunman attempting to take a political figure’s life and killing innocents along the way. How dare Froma insinuate that conservatives are anything but appalled by such an act! Let alone responsible for such insanity!

Really, people, if we want to come together and resolve the issues at hand in the country plagued by economic crisis, unemployment, and (serious) health care issues, we must move beyond the divisive tactics and insinuations of Froma Harrop and the like — and get to work in a compatible and positive way!
