Wow! Could you imagine balancing your family budget like the government does? Wouldn’t it be cool to not have to worry about buying whatever you want because your neighbors would be responsible to pay the bill?
You could spend and spend and spend until you had $12.2 trillion in debt (our current 2009 national debt) — no worries, right? Well no, because your “neighbors” (Fortune 500 companies) don’t make enough money to pay for your carelessness. To pay off your $12.2 trillion debt, all their profits for the next 145 years would be needed! Of course, this does not include any new spending — you know, like that massive Marxist health-care Christmas gift you’re coveting. Hmmm, maybe you could get some Chinese people to help you out? Nope, that’s not an option any more. Hey, how about … quit spending money, downsize and pay off your debt! What a novel idea. Isn’t that what responsible Americans do? Or, there’s always bankruptcy.
