Letter writer overlooked freedom to write

his is in response to the April 23 letter, “State of the country: Remember when things were better?”

We’ve always had an electoral college to determine our presidential elections. The Supreme Court didn’t decide the last election. In fact, if Al Gore had carried his home state of Tennessee, the whole Florida vote question would have been moot anyway.

I find it hard to believe the writer’s comment about lack of free speech today since she wasn’t intimidated into not writing the letter and I’m certain she is not in jail since it was published. The writer should enroll in a school to learn something about our form of government, though.

The writer might also remember – speaking of “political advisers running the place” – where was she when Hillary Clinton was appointed to the committee to develop a national health care policy? I don’t remember Bill asking anyone about that. But he was such a nice guy, who cared?

Finally, you’ve got to ask yourself: who would you rather have running this country, Saddam or George Bush? That’s a no-brainer. She should remember her freedoms here before writing her next letter.
