Thank you for running Associated Press reporter Walker Orenstein’s Monday article “Open race could yield first GOP treasurer. Mr. Orenstein correctly lists several of state Sen. Marko Liias’s achievements. However, he omits one important negative. This is Mr. Liias’s 2008 Chapter 7 bankruptcy, case No. 08-16128-TTG. He shows assets of $328,440 and liabilities of $885,601. If the man cannot manage his own finances, do we citizens dare trust him to manage the state’s? Surely we can do better.
