Charles Krauthammer’s Friday column is just one more distortion of President Obama’s words. (“Mistaking provider state for society.”) I have a hard time believing anyone who has actually seen what the president said could view his column as anything but propaganda.
The Herald just piles on by printing a cartoon furthering the lie. In Krauthammer’s column and in letter after letter The Herald seems to take no responsibility for fact checking the ravings of any delusional soul willing to send in a letter. Does the Herald have any standards? What is next? Printing Michele Bachman’s and Rush Limbaugh’s paranoid fantasies? Even the Opinion page should be tethered to reality in some way. If you cannot present a rational discussion of the issues, which you seem incapable of doing, then at least limit the distortions you are willing to print.
