Limited, specific sales-tax hike OK

As the Legislature meets in special session, I am concerned about how far they are willing to go before asking for new revenue. Although most Republicans do not support new/more taxes, I will consider a slight increase in the sales tax if it is three years or less and where the money goes is narrow-scoped.

I cannot support a state income tax for anyone. I am concerned that a state income tax would drive our entrepreneurs away and would decrease the amount that people give to charity. Also, an income tax is mainly levied on the producers in our society instead of for what services and products you consume. I would like to see the Legislature focus this session on efficiency and eliminating duplicate/out-of-date programs.
