Recent letters that express the concept that the Bill of Rights was written by “men that have been dead for nearly 200 years” miss the reason those precious words meant so much then and now.
The Bill of Rights, like the Magna Carta, were written to limit the power of government over the people. They were not written to “dictate how we live.”
Because these documents limit government, not people, they will never go out of style.
Frequent submitters to the editorial page should better understand about which they are speaking as they constantly express their opinions.
