I live in south Everett and I walk as much as I can, and one of my walks takes me from Cascade View neighborhood through a pass-through and over to Walmart. There are chain-link fences on both sides of the path, and on one side of the chain-link fence are blackberry bushes, and the other side is an apartment complex. T
oday on my walk, I counted 80 empty beer cans thrown over the fence into the bushes, along with lots of other trash. I see the beer cans along 88th in the ditch, too. I just don’t get it. Why do these folks think it’s OK to litter like this?
I don’t know what could be done to stop it. The state used to have litter laws, but I don’t see the signs on the streets or on the freeway anymore. Just sometimes a sign that says, “Litter and it Will Hurt.” I would like the sign to say “If You Are Caught Littering, You Can Be Fined $125” and put them up everywhere!
