The city of Everett’s plan to build a sports arena in the location they have chosen is impractical and would mean the destruction of several historic buildings. It also would add to the congestion at the Hewitt and Broadway intersection that is already a problem during rush hour.
Why doesn’t the city build the arena on land they already own near the new train station in the industrial district just south of the new Pacific Avenue railroad overpass? That area is relatively close to I-5 and the new train station which would leave the downtown area clear of event traffic and there is room for parking there in the industrial district.
