Lucas is best choice for Superior Court

I will not select a political party, so I will boycott the upcoming partisan primary election. I planned to extend this boycott to the non-partisan races, feeling it would take a race including a candidate so strong that election was a must or one that included a candidate whose removal was desperately called for.

The race for Snohomish County Superior Court Position 8 includes both necessary elements. The incumbent, David Hulbert, faces scrutiny from the attorney general’s office due to questionable actions in cases involving child custody. The Superior Court rotation was adjusted to keep Hulbert out of situations where child custody was an issue. A large contingent of local attorneys finds his record unsatisfactory, leading them to file 135 affidavits of prejudice in the past 41/2 years.

I know Eric Lucas. When I was a teacher, I watched him grow. He was a great student, athlete and leader. Eric was a member of my forensic team at Mariner High School, a great person and leader, inclusive and warm. Eric’s family members have been productive citizens here for many years. He is the type of decent human being who belongs in a judicial position.

Lucas has a stellar record as an attorney and judge.

Please join me in electing Eric Lucas, even if you, as I, choose to forego the partisan election.
