We have come to the end of the holiday season. I just felt compelled to thank the wonderful students at Lynnwood High School. I happened to be a substitute there the week before the holiday break. The whole school had adopted many families in need. The day I was there the kids were still bringing in many new articles of clothing, toys, small stocking items, wrapping paper, etc. They had been donating for over a week. One could see the joy and excitement on their faces as they brought in these items to their teachers to wrap for the parents and kids of various families. Food items were also collected and turkeys and pies were purchased later with donated money from the students and staff.
One thing that was impressive was the fact that even students from lower income families were donating. Many families had a wonderful Christmas because of the generosity of these students. It was fun to watch the same enthusiasm on the teachers’ faces. I know that most schools sponsored families but being there when the excitement of giving was going on made my holiday a little more special.
Thank you, Lynnwood High students and staff, for being so thoughtful and caring to those less fortunate.
