Mr. Winter’s willingness to meet on several occasions and answer questions about Tethys is commendable. While I applaud his openness, I still cannot agree that this venture is what Everett needs or wants for job creation or environmental viability.
With his experience, expertise and sense of “green” issues, wouldn’t it be more beneficial to the community if he were to help local entrepreneurs with a focus on sustainability? To assist in creating several start ups with a smaller footprint, allowing new ideas to flourish, makes more sense than enabling big companies like Coca Cola and PepsiCo to schlep their products.
I also disagree with his statement that the consumer is driving new product lines; it’s more like corporations create new product lines, advertise and promote heavily to consumers to keep the profit margins up. It’s all about the bottom line.
Like his wife, I am also a nurse. Packaged foods and soft drinks are known causes for increased obesity, diabetes, and many other detrimental health issues.
Although he seemed to be a genuine, nice guy, my altruistic nature wants to persuade him to invest in a greater cause!
