In the Oct. 15 edition of The Herald, County Council member Jeff Sax quotes Oklahoma Republican J.C. Watts on his definition of the word “character.” Mr. Watts states: “Character is doing the right thing when nobody is looking.”
Mr. Sax has the power, as a councilman, to adopt by ordinance zoning, land use and development regulations for the present and future development of the county.
If Mr. Sax agrees with Mr. Watts, does that mean that he has and also plans to adopt and revise county codes that he personally thinks are correct for the county when nobody is looking? I guess he would probably think that he was doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. He and his fellow councilmen have already accomplished this feat in their Title 30 Unified Development Code that became effective on Feb. 1, 2003.
