Money wasted on boondoggle

So, Community Transit needs to slash service and raise fares to meet its budget shortfall? I wish they had kept the money they’ve spent on “improving” the Mariner Park-N-Ride.

These ongoing “improvements” now include a couple hundred feet of unbroken fence line separating the majority of riders and their vehicles from the bus island. Bus passengers must now dash to one parallel side or the other to try to make it to their bus before it takes off. The one and only passageway through this fence was strategically built on one end, in a low spot that fills with water on rainy days. Hope there aren’t too many of those around here.

Then there is the matter of the two shelters that disappeared for a while, until they brought just one back. Perhaps they’re planning on opening an umbrella concession?

Aside from some fancy new asphalt, I don’t see one thing there that I’d call an improvement. It’s a shame so much of CT’s money was wasted on this boondoggle. They might have had the cash to keep another couple buses running and generate some income.

In short, CT, if it ain’t broke, don’t spend money you don’t have.
