During my 28 years in Monroe, I parented three children who attended public schools, served as a volunteer for the schools in which they attended, and was a Monroe High School Bearcat Pride board member. I have witnessed change within the district, from staff and board members, to budgets and levies, to the idea of advancing an environment in which all our students can learn.
With a diverse and changing population, we need to ensure that all our students’ needs are met. With Melanie Ryan on the school board, we will see those changes; changes which reflect and benefit all our students in an inclusive and unbiased manner. Melanie’s financial background, in which she has managed large budgets and teams, her professional experience as a social worker/child advocate, and her extensive volunteer experience ensures that she can meet the challenge.
She is a consensus builder, a negotiator. Ryan demonstrates compassion, empathy and strength in her approach to solving problems. As founder of Beck’s Place, she developed a foster boarding program to ensure that unhoused community members would have adequate temporary care for their pets. She served as president of the Monroe Equity Council and has been active in community outreach events.
She desires to make our community better, and to create a space for our students in which they are respected and heard. When students feel valued, they can learn and grow. Let’s make it happen. Vote Melanie Ryan for Monroe School Board member.
