What great news for North Everett — another piece of blight bites the dust. Or likely will, eventually.
The state Department of Health last week took action last week to suspend the license of the Royal Motor Inn on N. Broadway because it poses an immediate threat to guests. (Gosh, where will the queen stay if she comes for the Olympics?)
Investigators found the 35-unit motel may have violated maintenance, electrical, fire and safety codes. Conditions include non-working smoke detectors, mold, unsafe electrical wiring, unsanitary floors, walls and fixtures.
The tear-down of the even worse Topper Motel last year signaled what should be the rebirth of North Everett. We can’t wait for that.
