This letter is in direct response to the letter Thursday from the Rev. James R. Bridges, in particular his stand on the importance of Planned Parenthood and his leaders from a broad spectrum of denominations who (supposedly) stand with him. (“House vote hurts vital services.“)
It is so easy to provide “blanket” denominations whom he states that stand with him, without names. I can say the same thing and also add that the NBA, the WBC, the NFL, France, England, and so on stand with me when I say that I disagree with him completely. If he wants me to provide him negatives against Planned Parenthood and why they should not be government supported, I can certainly do that.
I can also provide him with cases of women who have suffered traumatic effects in their lives as a result of their involvement with Planned Parenthood. I am not a betting man, but I am willing to bet Rev. Bridges that I can provide him with more “actual” names of Baptist, Episcopal, Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Unitarian Universalist and United Church of Christ leaders, as well as Rabbis and leaders of Islam who will completely disagree with his statement that they stand with him on his position, as he so stated.
If he truly is a Christian, he should know that life begins at the moment of conception. I would like to ask a question, and that is at the moment that Jesus was conceived in Mary’s womb, was He not a life at that moment? Or, was he one six months later? Or, was there a period then when there were only two members of the Trinity?
