Capital punishment has been around for thousands of years. I believe that it has an important role in criminal punishment. I don’t think someone should be executed for stealing, but if someone murders someone, they should be punished greatly and even be put to death. Thirty-seven states in the United States say that murder is punishable by death. Murderers with the death sentence can be either hung, shot, electrocuted, injected or gassed. These methods may sound cruel, but lethal injection, the most commonly used death penalty, is painless. The criminal just falls asleep. I believe that capital punishment is a good thing that makes criminals suffer the consequence for their actions. It’s not cruel, it’s justice.
