In reading Michael Donow’s Saturday letter in support of Snohomish County Council candidate Steve Hobbs, I was struck by the irony in his statements, “Never mind that he gets no support from the party structure,” followed later by, “Please choose Democrat, then send a message to the establishment.” In fact, it was his candidate who sent a message to the party structure when he failed to honor his pledge to support the party nominee in the primary election.
We are at a critical time in Snohomish County and we need experience and a knowledge of current affairs on our County Council. While Hobbs’ service to our country is to be honored and applauded, it was that very service that kept him out of the county for much of the past 10 years. It was this lack of experience that was most cited by the Democratic precinct committee officers who voted to endorse Dave Somers. It is unfortunate that, upon his welcome return to Snohomish County, Hobbs has chosen to become a divisive force rather than a favorite son who would put the good of the county over his new found political appetite.
