I urge the Everett Herald to publish on the front page a reminder to all of our rights when approached by a public official.
If the person is a police officer then you need to answer their questions truthfully.
If the person is from a non-police agency like ICE you are not required to talk to them or answer any questions.
If the official has a warrant signed by a judge then you are required to comply with the warrant.
If a warrant is signed by an administrative person or any person other than a judge you are not required to comply. You are not required to talk to them nor are you required to allow entry to your house.
