Have you been to Capitol Hill or Central District in Seattle, Somerset in Bellevue or Newcastle? These places are about 10 miles away from Sea-Tac airport. If you have been to these places, you will be surprised how frequent and noisy commercial planes fly overhead.
Why do only people who live around Paine Field fighting against commercial service? Airplanes do not magically arrive at Paine Field. Airplanes have to fly over houses before arriving and after leaving Paine Field. Engine noise from an airplane does not stop two or three miles from an airport. It can be heard for miles when an airplane is in the air.
If you search “Sea-Tac flight path” on the Internet, you will find the “Noise Abatement Procedures Program” from the Port of Seattle Web site. Will you still think commercial flights from Paine Field is a great idea after you find out that your neighborhood may possibly be part of flight path by substituting Sea-Tac with Paine Field. This is not only a problem to people who live around Paine Field, but also a problem to all residents living in western Snohomish, north King and south Island counties.
