Open offer to all subscribers

My husband and I have subscribed to your paper since we relocated to Oso in 2006. We pay our bills on time, and have stuck with you through many problems, i.e. no paper delivery for a week due to a carrier quitting, consistent typos in the paper, and new ownership of the paper with an intolerable new format that we dislike immensely. I’m pretty sure that there are many of your subscribers who feel the same way we do.

We were excited to see your ad in this morning’s paper offering 50 percent off a 52-week, 7-day a week subscription. I thought finally we would be compensated for sticking with you! I jumped on your website to sign up but I was unable to see an option for extending our service, so I wrote to your customer service department. Jenn was very efficient and got back to me within a few hours, and informed me that the offer was for new customers only. I wrote her back and explained that I did not see that in your ad or on your website. She very quickly looked up my number and called me, and explained that if I looked at the microscopic type at the bottom of the ad, I would see that. That is not fair or kind to someone who wears trifocals! I was upset but not at her. She mentioned that she had gotten a lot of calls regarding this today, and I sure didn’t envy her having to do her job this morning. I am upset because you are not rewarding the people who have stuck with/by you through thick and thin, and offering the same “Holiday Savings” discount.

I am tempted to sign up for the savings under my husband’s name, effective January 1st, and cancel the subscription that is under my name, effective Dec. 31, just so I can take advantage of the savings.
