Opposition to Trump goes beyond policy differences

Several people have submitted letters complaining about the many editorials and reader opinions criticizing President Trump. I can understand that some people support his politics (except for Trump’s thumbing his nose at the entire world by withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement), but I don’t see how people can support Donald Trump as a person and as our president.

He is a liar. Others have made extensive lists of his lies, so there’s no need to provide examples here. If you don’t believe that he lies, stop reading this and go back to watching Fox News or listening to Rush Limbaugh.

He is a hypocrite. He spent years questioning the legitimacy of Obama as president, yet he complains when people question his legitimacy due to the involvement of Russia in the election. He frequently complained about Obama playing golf, yet he plays golf more often than Obama did. He craves the spotlight, yet he accuses others of “showboating.”

He is sexist. He often judges women primarily by their looks, and when he verbally attacks a woman he describes them as bleeding from various places. And he once boasted of being able to grope women without reprisal because he is rich and famous.

It wasn’t that long ago that “family values” was a campaign slogan of Republicans. Now it seems conservatives have sold their soul to retain their political advantage. Would you want your children or grandchildren growing up admiring and emulating Donald Trump?
