Package is now in the hands of voters

I’m writing in response to the May 8 letter submitted by Ben Rosander concerning the Marysville school bond issue. As a member of the Facilities Committee and a citizen, I want to tell Mr. Rosander how much I appreciate his sincere letter. His initial intention was to vote no because of the long teachers’ strike. I’m sure that was on the minds of other members of our community, and it was a deep concern of the Facilities Committee. I’m glad Mr. Rosander took the initiative to meet with Jim Baker, executive director of finance, and discuss the financial matters that concerned him and made the choice to reverse his decision and support the bond measure.

Facilities Committee members worked long hours to put this package together, knowing the vital need for a second high school and other issues due to the overcrowded conditions and the projected increase in Marysville’s population would only add to the current problem. To provide new and updated educational facilities now lies in the hands of community voters.
