Sarah Palin is back in the news again, this time for her involvement with the “Tea Party Movement.” Someone wondered the other day, “What’s the deal? She talks from notes on her hand (snicker); who does she represent? Why is there this following?”
I figured out what the deal is. People like her precisely because she uses notes scribbled on her hand. That’s what real people do. She doesn’t use an army of researchers supplying (on a teleprompter) every possible answer to every possible question. Sure, she stammers a little now and then. So? Do you really prefer the smoothly delivered lie? Really?
I don’t know that Ms. Palin is the answer. But I do know that she represents a significant departure from “politics as usual.” “Politics as usual” requires that we print and give away our money by the trainload for programs that accomplish nothing, until we’re counting our debt in the dozens of trillions, and the “politics as usual” crowd has not even yet admitted that this might be a slight problem. It requires a plethora of liars, thieves, crooks and communists running our government in several wrong directions.
If you really believe the “politics as usual” crowd (you know who they are) seems to be working out fine for us, go ahead and snicker. But please be aware, the country can’t survive many more election cycles of “politics as usual.”
So, just think about where we’re headed, then look up. The vultures are circling.
