The Herald demonstrated a tantrum (a fit of bad temper) of sorts in its Wednesday editorial concerning a message presented by Pope Benedict XVI on the AIDS issue in Africa. You tried to write something on AIDS and it ended up being a ranting of several personal issues you have with the church.
Firstly, the Pope’s “expertise in religion” is a given. He is also a shepherd and voice for faith and morals. He is extremely well-educated in science, philosophy and reason. He knows what is going on concerning world events. Because he has addressed moral responsibility and its decline, he is blasted. Moral decline takes over and the dignity of the human person suffers. That is a given.
As for throwing more stones at the clergy abuse issue, don’t throw too many until you have your own ecclesiastical community clean up theirs. So far it looks like the Protestant church community, as well as other groups, Mormon, etc., don’t have a problem. Right!
On human nature, you consider human nature so weak that we just don’t have control. Well, on our own we don’t. That is why moral leadership and the message Christ preached by the pope is so necessary.
Priests and nuns leaving in droves? Where in the world did you get that?
Dear editors, you are angry with the Catholic Church, that is obvious. You have bunched your anger and gone in every direction possible. This ranting on your part holds no credibility.
