The letter of Nov. 2 “Where have all the salmon gone?” is in my opinion quite simple to answer. For years, the great French oceanographer Jacques Cousteau spoke of the oceans of the world, of them being the last frontier of our planet and of their rugged demeanor but fragile and delicate ecosystems.
Today due to the overpopulation of this planet, human greed, high tech electronic fishing methods and – let us not forget – the giant nets, diminishing species have become a reality.
All of the government studies, fees and regulations along with blaming seals, sea lions etc., will not solve the problem.
You have to leave some mommas and poppas in the water, not on the dinner plate, if you want your grandchildren to even know what a fish is. That is just my two cents worth.
