This letter in response to the May 14 letter to the editor by Jackie Mestis (“Republican control: Let’s all break out the WIN buttons”). It is nice to see that she has such a great imagination. I suppose the fact that the stock market had been falling for the last year of Clinton’s time in office wasn’t very interesting to those polluted by his lies. Nor the fact that California has been having problems with energy supply since last October. Unemployment rates rising? Well, that tends to happen in extended periods of a falling stock market.
All the things mentioned in this letter are not instantaneous actions. All of them take a significant period of time to develop – far more then the meager four months that Bush has been in office. As a point of fact, the downward spiral of the stock market slowed significantly once Bush was in office. Action is being taken to correct the energy problems we are currently facing, though whether it is the correct action remains to be seen.
Are the Republicans perfect? Absolutely not, but they are absolutely not to blame for issues handed over by the Democrats.
