While watching a TV news report of the demonstrations at the Port of Tacoma, I was struck by the reality that had this happened in Saddam-ruled Iraq, North Korea, China, Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, etc., there would not have been any live, recorded or written mention of the incident, the bullets would have real (not rubber), and those who survived removal would have probably ended up in front of a firing squad and a black-hooded death over an open trench grave.
It reminded me that even though viewpoints are different in the USA, our rights are guaranteed and protected, not denied or personal freedoms (human rights) restricted because of religion, gender or political ideology. As a veteran I am proud to say that we have these rights because our servicemen, judges and government protect them for us, including political demonstrators.
