In August, the voters of the Snohomish County PUD’s 2nd District declined to advance their incumbent commissioner, Kathy Vaughn, to the general election.
In the 1st District, Sid Logan, who was appointed in March of 2017 to fill Dave Aldrich’s seat following his resignation due to failing health, did manage to make it to the November ballot, but did not even come close to garnering a majority. This result is not surprising since Vaughn and Toni Olson somehow thought it fitting to fill the seat of the commission’s most longstanding and progressive member with an individual who had studied petroleum mining and subsequently worked for 14 years in the oil industry, despite having a field of approximately 25 candidates from which to choose.
Given these primary results and the uncertainty of the commission’s future composition, one might expect no major employment or policy decisions would be made until the new commission was seated. And yet, in a move reflective of what we see transpiring in the “other” Washington, these three are hot to install a new CEO or perhaps make the current interim CEO’s appointment permanent immediately, if not sooner.
Following the regular meeting of September 4, they convened two “special meetings,” on Sept. 6 and 7 at the Port Gardner Inn to discuss the matter and choose a permanent CEO.
Their arrogance is breathtaking. One is already ousted and a second most likely will be. Whoever do they think they are?
