I live in a home threatened with demolition or removal. We have lived in a Donovan District home and on this street for about eight years.
I am very disappointed in The Herald’s decision to include the term NEWT in its coverage of the meeting on Feb. 15. I am appalled and offended by the term. I do not know the “spokeswoman” for the Donovan District, but I am very disgusted with her use of racist language. I am saddened that you chose to run the story with the term and picture included. Would The Herald have run the story if the label used the N-word? I think it comparable and rather despicable that you would perpetuate the use of such language.
I highly doubt I am being called a NEWT by the hospital administration – I am more convinced that it is a poor choice on the part of the “Donovan District spokeswoman.”
