The article on Aaron Reardon’s re-election filing illustrated one of the key problems with some of our government leaders today (“Reardon gets jump on re-election,” Nov. 7). The article stated that Reardon’s main goals included priority-based budgeting, creating transparency in government and developing a business plan to create new jobs.
What is striking about each of these three goals is that they lower the bar on our expectations and make the process, not the results, the focus of our county government’s efforts. As citizens of Snohomish County our concern is not better process but better results. Mr. Reardon and other governmental officials would be wise to show leadership by focusing more on the ends and less on the means. Businesses, families and individuals see the results as most important. Good government should as well.
