Recall effort is a big waste of time

I was amazed as I sat in the Superior Court of Snohomish County on Tuesday and watched Joan Amenn try to present a recall case against Gold Bar Mayor Colleen Hawkins. It was a complete waste of time for everyone there.

It seems to me that if you are going to file a recall action maybe you should be able to substantiate your charges before you file so that you aren’t wasting the court’s time. It is sad to think that Ms. Amenn will probably do the same thing again.

What is even sadder is the spectacle that is being made of our City Council meetings because of Councilman Robert Amenns. The council repeatedly votes opposite of Amenn on many issues and the mayor is who he chooses to take his frustration out on. People of Gold Bar, don’t be fooled into believing everything you hear or read. Attend the council meetings and see for yourself. Ask the mayor questions and she will answer them. You may not always see eye to eye with her but that does not make her a bad mayor.

Do some research and find out what Councilman Amenn is costing the City of Gold Bar and what the cost to the city for a recall election would be. The county doesn’t print, mail and count ballots for free.

Of course, none of this will matter if the recall effort can’t get past the court and if the Amennses don’t get signatures on the petitions they will have to circulate. Don’t bother bringing it to my door!
