Reedy needed for fiscal restraint

Democratic state Sen. Maralyn Chase was the primary supporter of former disgraced Lynnwood Mayor Don Gough last year in his re-election bid. This, after all the TV, radio and print media coverage of his incredibly bad treatment of women under him. It was so bad that he was made the eighth worst boss in America. Lynnwood had to pay out thousands and thousands in settlement for this and still Sen. Chase led the charge for his re-election.

Things got so bad that Sen. Chase even got a serious primary challenge from her own party. Chris Eggen did that because he railed about her poor performance in the Legislature and her fixation on a state income tax. The Seattle Times and King County Municipal League both endorsed him. But he didn’t make it to the top two, Republican Bob Reedy did.

I have worked with and know Robert Reedy for many years. I am convinced that he would make a far better state senator than the one we have now. He is fiscally responsible and focused on constituency service. He will not promote a state income tax on top of everything else that the people have voted down over and over again. He will bring a sense of responsibility to Olympia that has been sadly lacking by our district representatives. I recommend Robert Reedy and will vote for him.

Douglas Kerley,

former board member of the Snohomish Labor Council
