Your Friday editorial opposing same day voter registration predicts a number of serious problems if Washington state adopts election-day registration.
With 33 years of experience with this system here in Minnesota, I can safely say that these fears are largely unfounded. What might happen, however, is that a combination of your extensive vote by mail system and election-day registration might help Washington state surge ahead of Minnesota as the leading voter turnout state in the nation. Now that would be a disaster.
