In the Friday letter, “Proposed rules need many hearings,” the writer would have you believe that the state mandated critical area ordinance update has been a clandestine operation carried out by a few “long-haired hippie freaks.”
As a property owner and residential developer, I too, was concerned about overzealous regulation. Choosing a path of cooperation, I have been participating in the discussions for the last four years, attending more meetings than can be counted. The end result is a compromise that provides critical habitat and water quality protections, while providing more flexibility for property owners than the current regulations. By the way, I fully support Councilman Dave Somers and am also a member of Futurewise.
