I applaud Elizabeth Marshall of Everett for her letter in the Sept. 30 Herald (“Hate crimes make us as bad as the enemy”). May I go a step further in saying that God’s teachings say look at the person and what is inside of them and not the clothes or outer appearance. The person is made from the interior and we should all look to the inner beauty and peace that is within. Treat every human being as you yourself would be treated. It is very disappointing to see people, temples and places of worship being singled out just because they appear on the surface to do the same as the terrorists.
If you take away the turbans, beards and clothes of the men and the coverings of the women, you find a human being underneath.
The Lord made man and woman. Just because a person is a different color from you, has a different job than you, dresses different from you, has a different religion than you, there is no reason on this earth they should be treated any different than you want to be.
