Reporter’s work slams Democrats

Reporter Susanna Ray’s decidedly one-sided March 17 article titled, “On the ball, or foul ball?” was a classic case of misrepresentation.

Last year, the voters in Snohomish County went to the polls. As a result, two Democrats with real governmental experience were elected. One Democrat has run a small business for the better part of a decade and had real experience serving as a two-term mayor. The other Democrat has made a career of public service, including a year as state representative.

For Ms. Ray to refer to them as a “pizza man” and a “former campaign manager” is ridiculous, especially given the terms she used for their failed Republican opponents. She refers to the GOP hopefuls in that special election as an “insurance agent” and a “retired airline pilot.” One wonders what hue and cry would have arisen had she referred to these conservatives as a “salesman” and “a man who made a career of getting high.” While unfair, the latter would have at least demonstrated balance when compared to the terms she used for the Democrats.

I certainly hope that Ms. Ray will either tone down her obvious bias, or, at least have her “reporting” placed in the Opinion section of The Herald.
