Richards has done his homework

As a Snohomish resident for 33 years, I have seen many changes in our close-knit community. Our Snohomish Fire and Rescue has been a growing part of this transformation over the decades. Our citizens have witnessed this small fire department grow along with the increasing population into an organization serving the people with their excellent work.

It is time once again for elections. A third commissioner will replace Ray Brown, who has held the position since 1968. With all the modifications the Snohomish Fire Department has done, the right kind of person elected to the board will help manage our fire district and $3.8 million in tax dollars. The fire department needs a person educated in business management with a working knowledge of the controlling of money and assets best suited for the myriad jobs the department does for our residents.

I urge the citizens of Fire District 4 to do their homework on the two candidates vying for commissioner. This election is probably one of the most important ones held in this department since it originated in 1888.

I recommend Bruce Richards, a very strong candidate for the job. I have personally watched this man educate himself by interviewing the chief, deputy chief, volunteers, full-time staff and other commissioners to obtain information on the functional system our department operates on. Mr. Richards has the capacity for leadership input in an excellent and growing fire department which lives by its motto, “neighbors serving neighbors!”
