Regarding the article, “Bill to rename Highway 99 after Snohomish man clears House”: To rename Highway 99 in honor of a black Union soldier is a nice gesture. I believe a local monument in the city of Snohomish, which is Rep. Hans Dunshee’s hometown, would be better suited and could be better observed and educational. I am sure it would be a million dollar savings to the taxpayers. I am befuddled to understand how renaming Highway 99 has any correlation with removing the Confederate Flag from the capitol building in South Carolina. I believe Dunshee can find better use of our tax dollars and better use of his political career. This money would be more wisely spent on improving our state’s infrastructure.
