I have a brief comment in regards to the re-visiting of plans to build the new arena in Everett. My message is simple: don’t write off the respite of local fans due to the extreme terrorist actions which are cascading in the form of job losses. My reason, proven historically, is that even those who are out of work need diversionary recreation. The expensive major league tickets will most definitely suffer but those of the minor league are still affordable. During the Great Depression the baseball parks were still filling the stands. The statement “If you build it they will come” is based on such facts and it only takes a little research to back that up. Build the arena as planned and show support of the people unwilling to pay exorbitant gate fees and concession charges.
