As a proud, doting, participatory and ever-vigilant father of four fantastic children, I was interested to read the state Supreme Court opinion that it is illegal for me to eavesdrop on my children’s communications: “… the Washington privacy statute puts a high value on the privacy of communications…”
Boy, I bet the middle-aged letches and perverts who prey on our kids over the Internet (which is rapidly turning to voice-over Internet), in chat rooms and on instant messenger are relieved to hear that! I assume that Washington state children will now be the minors of choice for these deviants. After all, the evidence against them will be inadmissible in our courts, right?
I wonder when the court will put a “high value” on the safety and welfare of our most precious commodities – our children.
