Ryan has experience, commitment for Monroe School Board

I am writing in support of Melanie Ryan for Monroe School Board, Position 2. I have known Ryan for over 10 years, and met her when I started getting involved in nonprofit charity and community support efforts in Monroe.

She has over 20 years of professional experience in finance, managing budgets and leading planning and strategy for businesses. She has a master’s degree in social work with a focus on education and has worked as a school social worker in Bellevue School District. She has also worked at Treehouse as an educational advocate for foster children in King County schools. Melanie is certified in assessing cultures and currently works as a coach/consultant to build inclusive organizations and communities. She founded the nonprofit Beck’s Place and served as board president of Monroe Equity Community, which is how I met her.

From the outset, I have been impressed by Ryan’s ability to connect with and inspire others.

I’ve seen her working in our community to create safe places for folks to discuss their differences and foster a collaborative atmosphere that encourages people to find common ground.

I believe that academic achievement is only possible for students who feel valued, supported and safe. I think her focus on providing those safe environments for students and parents has helped highlight problems in our community that need to be solved.

I wholeheartedly endorse Ryan based on her qualifications, experience, dedication, integrity, and commitment to creating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
