I was laid off 14 months ago from my job, due to lack of work. The sad part is the company did not follow the seniority list. I had been there almost 10 years, longer than at least half of the guys they kept!
There are many people in the same position as I am — when you are too old they will put you out to pasture (so to speak.) Unless you are close to retirement age, and then they would have too much explaining to do if they laid you off. I was always under the impression that seniority meant something.
For those of you who are still working, remember no job is secure. Even if you are working under a union as I was!
