With all the teachers demanding pay raises, some as much as 20 percent, how about the seniors who since 2010 have seen their income increase far less. Three of those years there was no increase in Social Security and one year it was 0.3 percent.
How are seniors on Social Security supposed to get by. In January the Social Security increase was 2 percent, but in my case the entire amount was eaten by increases in Medicare.
I believe that whatever increase in Medicare should not be allowed to exceed the same percentage.
My mortgage has also increased in the last year by over $100 because the state of Washington is always so eager to increase property and other taxes and fees.
I believe that once a person reaches the age of 65 or 70, they should no longer be required to pay property tax. The sniors deserve a break also. So how about some of you lawmakers do the right thing and get a law passed to help us get by?
