I am forced to respond to the letters written in regard to the free fireworks show that the City of Everett graciously held for the Fourth of July.
For those of you that went and thought the show was a hit, kudos to you. I mean, after all, it was a free show.
For those of you that went and felt the need to write a letter to the editor because you felt like you were shortchanged, shame on you. It was a free show!
For those of you that went and, heaven forbid, dragged your out-of-town relatives along with you, thinking that Everett’s free show was going to be as spectacular as the ones in Seattle: shame on you for being too lazy to take the time to fight the crowds to see what surely would have been a better show – due to the fact that Seattle obviously has more money to spend on a free show for the Fourth of July.
It amazes me to see the selfish arrogance from people who would take the time to write a letter to the editor to complain about a “pathetic” free show, and those demanding an “apology” from the organizers who helped put on this free show.
Oh, by the way, did I mention this was a free show?
