Mike Cooper (D) and Renee Radcliff Sinclair (R) are opposing candidates for Snohomish County Council District 3. Local races like this rarely obtain huge contributions, since each of the county’s districts have about 100,000 residents.
Yet suddenly Sinclair’s contributions went from $17,000 to an astounding $109,000 overnight with contributions of roughly $85,000 from the Master Builders Association. (Figures can be found from the Public Disclosure Commission.) Now, in the final weeks of the campaign, a massive personal assault on former state legislator Cooper has begun.
If you care for decency in government, and if you live in District 3, vote for the candidate who isn’t being bought by big business. Vote for the candidate with a proven legislative track record whose campaign contributions has came from local citizens. Whatever attributes Sinclair may have, it’s clear that her candidacy — and your vote — is now being bought.
