Regarding the Monday letter, “Repeating lies isn’t real debate,” I would like to concur with the headline and refute its content.
First off; Rude, obnoxious, belligerent tactics would more accurately describe those of the SEIU, ACORN and Black Panthers when they bus people to homes of CEOs, squat in houses they don’t own and block public forums while brandishing nightsticks (respectively).
Second; I heard Rep. Rick Larsen attempt to dispel the facts on Saturday in Mount Vernon. For those of us who do our homework and don’t take marching orders, not only can we show the sections in the bill where the kind of reprehensible actions brought up in the letter are made legal but we can also knowledgeably express our sentiment about why we don’t want to set down a path to failure.
Rep. Larsen repeatedly stated, “Status quo is unacceptable” and also that, “many here would have no health care reform.” I didn’t see a single sign or hear a single person expressing those desires. The Democrat party talking points do, however, clearly reflect their desires. Allow me to explain: That portion of the health care industry that has been under government control has, for its duration, expanded benefits and increased costs. That “status quo” is what they are once again pushing here, and health care reform? If they were really seeking to reduce premiums they would include something to address the insatiable appetite of ambulance-chasing lawyers.
